RecordQuick does not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data. Your recordings stay on your device or in your personal iCloud account.
1. Overview
RecordQuick ("the App") is a voice recording application for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch developed by Kohei Ishikawa ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, and how it is protected.
By using RecordQuick, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.
2. Data We Do Not Collect
RecordQuick does not collect, store on our servers, or share:
- Audio recordings or transcripts
- Device identifiers or advertising identifiers
- Location data
- Usage analytics or behavioral tracking data
- Crash logs transmitted to our servers
- Contacts, photos, or any other personal data
There is no backend server associated with RecordQuick. No data is transmitted to us or to any third party.
3. Data Stored on Your Device
The App stores the following data locally on your device within the application's private container:
- Audio files — recordings you create using the App
- Transcript text — speech-to-text output generated on your device
- Metadata — titles, dates, durations, formats, and playback positions
- Settings — your preferences such as audio format, language, and sort order
All of this data remains entirely under your control. Deleting the App permanently removes all locally stored data.
4. iCloud Storage (Optional)
If you enable iCloud storage within the App, your recordings, transcripts, and metadata are synced to your personal iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit and iCloud Drive infrastructure. This data:
- Is stored in your private iCloud account, not on our servers
- Is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy
- Is accessible to you across devices signed in to the same Apple ID
- Can be deleted from iCloud via iCloud Drive or the App's settings
iCloud storage is entirely optional. The App works fully in local-only mode without iCloud.
5. Microphone Access
The App requests access to your device's microphone solely to record audio at your explicit direction. Audio captured by the microphone is never transmitted off your device during recording. The microphone is only active when you have started a recording.
6. Speech Recognition
RecordQuick uses Apple's on-device Speech framework (SFSpeechRecognizer) for transcription. Speech processing occurs entirely on your device. Your audio is not sent to Apple's servers or any third-party service for transcription within the App.
On older OS versions where on-device recognition is unavailable, the App will clearly disclose if a network request is required before initiating transcription.
7. Permissions
The App may request the following system permissions:
- Microphone — required to record audio
- Speech Recognition — required to transcribe recordings
- iCloud / CloudKit — optional, required only if iCloud storage is enabled
You can revoke any permission at any time in your device's Settings app. Revoking microphone access will prevent recording; other features continue to work.
8. No Third-Party SDKs
RecordQuick does not include any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs. All functionality is implemented using Apple's first-party frameworks.
9. Children's Privacy
RecordQuick is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted in the App's release notes and reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
